Musculo-skeletal
risk factor profile |

Over the years we've surveyed thousands of people to determine their risk of musculo-skeletal dysfunction. Generally speaking it's high, mainly because people don't have a regular strength and flexibility training program. That's the main reason they become dysfunctional: they're not strong enough to sit in a chair, tap a keyboard or push a mouse without getting a crook back, stiff neck and the 'cold' shoulder.
The Musculo-skeletal Risk Factor Profile is based on the following questions ● Current musculo-skeletal condition ● Age ● Fatness ● Abdominal strength ● Upper body strength ● Flexibility ● Functional mobility ● Shoulder function ● Strength training behaviour ● Flexibility training behaviour
A good score is a high score. The pass mark is 7/10 for the individual parameters and 70/100 for the total profile score.
Below are the sample graphs from an actual assessment. You'll be able to determine risk. In those groups where people score poorly we recommend employers provide staff with every encouragement to take part in regular yoga, pilates, crookback and tai chi classes. We encourage larger organistions to purchase strength training equipment set up a fitness training centre.
We encourage larger organisations to employ physical educators as case managers, people who can take classes during the day as part of their work.
We encourage people who are off work and on worker's compensation and drugs for musculo-skeletal dysfunction to come to work every day to attend the fitness classes. Not many people ever got better by lolling around at home watching TV!
An ounce of prevention is worth a ton of cure. Think prehab, not rehab.
Reward people who keep themselves in exceptionally good nick.
keep themselves fit and healthy to the best of their ability. There are plenty of good reasons why it makes good business sense.
