Miller Health assist organisations to enhance productivity and reduce the costs of absenteeism, presenteeism and workers compensation.
W e do this in three ways -
The most popular programs are n Models of good health n Seven habits of fit and healthy people n Crookback clinic n Work life balance n Relaxation, better sleep, fewer headaches, more energy.
To give you an idea of how we operate, we find the best value and most effective way to increase productivity and manage risk is to implement a systematic health management program that assists organisations to better deal with the risks associated with low levels of health and fitness - particularly stress and musculo-skeletal dysfunction as these seem to generate the most days absent and workers compensation incidents.
You can read more about this by clicking through to From Injury to Dysfunction.
Rolling out a series of seminars over a period of months seems to be a good way to capture, focus and then maintain people's attention on keeping fit and healthy.
The series starts with Models of Good Health, then it's the Seven Habits of Fit and Healthy People, then the Crookback Clinic, Work Life Balance, Relaxation ...
The seminars are interactive and entertaining. People come away inspired and motivated to keep themselves fit and healthy.
I go to the site for a couple of days every couple of months and everyone spends two hours with me.
Alternatively my clients engage me in a variety of ways: - - a one day Seven Habits of Fit and Healthy people seminar - a variety of two hour programs on the one day, where staff decide which ones they want to attend.
HEALTH WEEK We're well equipped to manage your health week and conduct health assessments, deliver some of the programs ourselves, commission other people to run programs and present an audit report.
OH&F AUDIT During my seminar programs I get people to fill in an interactive workbook, the scores from which I collate and present as an audit report. You can look at a couple of my recent reports by clicking here. This is a unique feature of my work. Until organisations have a benchmark of the health and fitness of their staff it is difficult to put in train strategies to lower the number of days absent, the number of worker's compensation claims, or the incidence of presenteeism. PERSONAL ASSESSMENTS With some organisations I spend time with each staff member doing a personal health and fitness assessment. You can view the results of some of those assessments by clicking here. A SECOND OPINION There's an epidemic of musculo-skeletal dysfunction caused in large measure because people are not keeping themselves strong or flexible enough. Frequently people who succumb to it will, with the assistance of their doctor blame work, mainly because it's usually a big, soft, slow moving target.
I'm a physical educator and over the years I've developed a pretty good insight into the causes of crook backs, stiff necks and 'cold' shoulders.
By taking a dysfunctional employee through the Musculo-skeletal Risk Factor Profile and doing a few diagnostic tests, I can provide you with a second opinion as to the real cause of the dysfunction and what the employee can do to fix it up. That might save you and your employee a lot of money. OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND FITNESS You can read some of the stuff I've written about the place of occupational health and fitness within occupational health and safety by clicking here. It's a bit punchy, but from my experience not far off the mark. MIND AND BODY PROFILE Last thing, print off the Mind and Body Profile, fill it in and let me know what score you got. I'll tell you what sort of shape you're in and give you an OH&F risk rating. Regards John Miller
