As with most things people don't know what it is until they've done it. This is particularly the case with corporate health management programs.
It would seem to me to be a tough assignment trying to galvanize people into action by sitting them in a dark room and Power Pointing them to death with a sermon on how to become healthier!
(Out in the community it's even more strange as governments pump the activity message out on TV. The best thing governments could do is pay the TV stations to stop broadcasting altogether. Then people would have to get up and do something else. Imagine that, a national TV free day?)
THE INVITATION I'd like to invite your CEO, Executive Managers, HR Manager and OH&S Manager to attend a one day (or a half day) introductory health management seminar based on The Seven Habits of Fit and Healthy People.
It's my flagship program and contains most of the elements of the individual programs I conduct.
Once your senior staff have immersed themselves in it, experienced it they'll be able to make an assessments as to whether the programs I run fit within the framework of your organisation's occupational health, fitness and wellbeing strategy.
During the seminar participants make a self-assessment of aspects of their health, fitness and wellbeing, from which I'll prepare an audit report. The activity component of the program brings home to people what sport of shape they're in and what they can do to improve it.
BUILDING THE OHF&W FIREWALL Our community is experiencing an epidemic of personally generated body system dysfunctions. These dysfunctions are having a dramatic impact on our workplaces.
If you can't build a firewall around these dysfunctions, sooner or later the cost to your staff - in terms of pain, and the cost to your organisation in the form of absenteeism, presenteeism, workers compensation and employee retention become almost unbearable.
This introductory seminar aims to alert your senior managers to the enormity of the problem and provide suggestions about what your organization can do to fix it.
MY COMPLIMENTS The seminar presentation comes with my compliments. It's the best way I know of letting people know what I do.
There are some additional expenses associated with the seminar that I ask groups to pick up.
A DAY OUT FOR YOUR STAFF It's a fantastic day out for a work group. Here's what people have said about it.
The day starts at the AIS visitor centre from where I take your group for a tour of the AIS campus - past the swimming centres, the sports science building with the dome at the back, and the indoor sports hall. It's a great facility and a great place for a corporate health, fitness and wellbeing day.
I look forward to hosting your group. You can contact me through the contact form or by phoning on (02) 6288 7703.
Here's the advertising blurb for the program. You can copy it and use it to advertise the program to your staff.
LUNCH is in the AIS athlete's dining hall. Good food and good company.
So there you have it. A great day out; great for morale, great for firing people up to keep themselves fitter and healthier. They'll never forget it.
I look forward to hosting you for the day.

It's a big ask expecting to stay healthy without keeping yourself fit.
