HEALTHY PEOPLE - HEALTHY WORKPLACE

Join Canberra physical educator, John Miller for this interactive 2 hour Health, Fitness and Wellbeing seminar.

The seminar is for people who want to keep themselves in good shape, and in particular protect themselves from musculo-skeletal dysfunction.

By attending this seminar you'll learn

about the epidemic of poor health in our community and how this is affecting our workplaces.

about the common body system dysfunctions and what you can do to either avoid them or overcome them.

how of all the dysfunctions that people report in the workplace, musculo-skeletal dysfunction usually rates the highest.

With particular reference to musculo-skeletal dysfunction you'll learn

what are the main causes of back, neck, shoulder and arm dysfunction

how to make the distinction between an injury and a dysfunction

the two main principles underscoring successful musculo-skeletal rehab

how to measure the risk of getting a crook back, stiff neck, sore shoulders and painful arms

how to protect and/or rehabilitate yourself from back and neck dysfunction

how to protect yourself with a good ergonomic set-up at work and at home - ie, how to sit up straight

that taking pain-killing and anti-inflammatory tablets which mask the symptoms of dysfunction are poor substitutes for the exercises you need to do to get yourself back into alignment

During the seminar I'll take you through a risk assessment that involves measuring your strength and flexibility. The best way to protect yourself from back, neck and shoulder pain is to keep yourself strong and flexible.

MOST IMPORTANTLY, I'll teach you some of the key exercises you need to do to get yourself back in better alignment. Do that and you'll feel better.

You'll be glad you came.

You'll receive an interactive work book.

WHAT TO BRING

Bring your reading glasses and a pen.

WHAT TO WEAR

Wear slacks. (Because the program includes an exercise component you'll find it more comfortable to wear slacks.)

I look forward to seeing you.
