There is an epidemic of musculo-skeletal dysfunction in our workplaces, most of it not caused by injuries.

Sooner or later, bodies that sit down for most of the day become weak and tight. Muscles pull bones out of alignment. In fact any one doing any job who doesn't have a regular strength and flexibility training program is running the risk of musculo-skeletal dysfunction.

If you're not getting stronger you're getting weaker.

If you're not getting looser you're getting tighter.

Sooner or later you'll end up with musculo-skeletal dysfunction

Pain sets in.

Without a regular and systematic strength and flexibility program you're setting yourself up for musculo-skeletal dysfunction.

A prehab program breaks this pattern by restoring strength and flexibility.

What the program involves is staff with musculo-skeletal dysfunction and staff at risk of musculo-skeletal dysfunction attending a one hour crookback clinic three times a week until poor function is restored to good.

It works on the principal that whilst therapy may speed up the rehab process it doesn't take the place of the strength and flexibility exercises you need to do for yourself.

With a good prehab program you can get away without any therapy at all.

These sessions are conducted in-house by qualified fitness practitioners, either members of the OHFW staff, or by contractors.

This is a key firewall program.

WHO NEEDS TO ATTEND

1. People who indicate they have musculo-skeletal dysfunction and are in pain.

2. People at risk of musculo-skeletal dysfunction.

The measure of risk of musculo-skeletal dysfunction is people who score less than 50 on the Musculo-skeletal Rick Factor Profile.

It's a big ask expecting your body to get better by having someone do something to you: sooner or later you have to do something to yourself.

You are invited to take part in the CrookBack Clinic a program to restore poor musculo-skeletal function to good.

There is an epidemic of musculo-skeletal dysfunction in our community, with musculo-skeletal complaints being high on the list of reasons why people go to the doctor. In any group of people up to 40% are suffering from some sort of complaint, whether it be a crook back, stiff neck, sore shoulder, bung hip, game leg, dicky knee of RSI!

The CrookBack Clinic is based on the belief that for 80% of people, there is an 80% chance that they can fix up their musculo-skeletal dysfunction to at least 80% of normal function if they do the right strength and flexibility exercises for their condition.

Whilst therapy speeds up the rehab process, if muscles are not getting stronger or looser they're getting weaker and tighter. The rub down, crunch, hot heat bag and electric shock is no substitute for a regular and systematic strength and flexibility based alignment program.

At the CrookBack Clinic you'll be taken through the key exercises you need to do on a regular and systematic basis to get your back, neck, arms and shoulders back into good shape. We encourage our clients to take the essential vitamin, mineral and fatty acid supplements reported to be useful in the treatment of musculo-skeletal dysfunction, together with the nutraceuticals that can enhance function.

A detailed outline of our principles and exercises can be found in the ebook, How to Fix Up a Crook Back.

YOGA AMD TAI CHI

We encourage organisations to run yoga and tai chi classes and give all staff every encouragement to attend.

Yoga and tai chi form the basis of successful health, fitness and wellbeing programs around the world.
